A Technical and Policy Forum on Mainstreaming Native Species for Restoration and Production

Summary

ELTI, together with the Rain Forest Restoration Initiative (RFRI) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), will be holding a Technical and Policy Forum on Mainstreaming Native Species for Restoration and Production on November 8, 2016 at the Biodiversity Management Bureau Training Center at the Ninoy Aquino Parks & Wildlife Compound in Diliman, Quezon City.

The forum aims to highlight the importance of native species, not only to restore ecosystem services that support both local biodiversity and communities, but also to re-capture the international market for our premium timber species and other forest-based products, while meeting the local needs. We would like to use this opportunity to have a dialogue with DENR and relevant bureaus on the current technical capacity and existing policies and programs on native species propagation and production, as well as the constraints and gaps in research, development and implementation, in order to brainstorm ways to address these issues and steps to move forward.

The forum is primarily for DENR and relevant bureaus and organizations. Space is limited, therefore, pre-registration is a must. To reserve a seat, please pre-register here on or before November 7, 2016 at 1pm.

The program on November 8th will start at 9:00 am. Registration will open at 8:30 am. Please be on time.
