Dr. Arbainsyah Insya

Arbainsyah (Insya), Ph.D.

Indonesia Coordinator, Asia Program

Based at Tropenbos International, Dr. Arbainsyah (who goes by "Insya") is a botanist and forest ecologist with extensive experience in sustainable management of tropical rainforests.

Insya completed his Ph.D. in December 2016 from the Department of Conservation Biology at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. For his dissertation, he undertook a research project entitled, "The Impact of Sustainable Forest Management on Plant and Bird Diversity in East Kalimantan, Indonesia." Before joining ELTI, Insya worked for the International Ministry of Forestry-Tropenbos Kalimantan Project, the Wanariset Samboja Herbarium and the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation.
