Vicente Escasinas
Philippine Research Assistant, Asia Program
Based at Visca Foundation for Agricultural and Rural Development, Inc. in the Philippines, Vincente ("Tata") Escasinas joined ELTI in April 2021.
Tata spent over 20 years working for Landbank, a government bank whose focus is serving the special needs of farmers and fisherfolk. During that time, he worked closely with a large number of agricultural farmers cooperatives throughout the Eastern Visayas region, to help them avail of financial resources. In 2019, he attended a training on “Climate Change and Community-Based Ecosystem Disaster Risk Management,” which encouraged him to get involved in Rainforestation by volunteering with ELTI & ITEEM’s School-on-the-Air program. Tata has a Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness and is currently studying towards his Master’s degree in Tropical Ecology at the Visayas State University.
"I always find it exciting to work with people from local villages because of their local environmental knowledge, which we in the academe do not have.”
Vicente Escasinas
