Mark Ashton, Ph.D.

Dr. Mark Ashton is a Professor of Silviculture and Forest Ecology and Director of School Forests at the Yale School of the Environment. His research focuses on the biological and physical processes governing the regeneration of natural forests, and the mechanisms underlying the diversity of forest ecosystems and their adaptability to climate change. He conducts his long-term research in both temperate and tropical forests, and has worked in forests from New England to Sri Lanka and from Canada to Panama. Dr. Ashton holds a Ph.D. from the Yale School of the Environment.
