Capacity Building for Forest Carbon Buyers Workshop

Summary

The carbon market provides an important pathway for corporate buyers to achieve global climate goals. It does so by offering financial incentives for landholders to conserve, restore, and sustainably manage forests, thus enhancing carbon stocks. As these markets expand, participants face complex questions about building the capacity to identify, invest in, and monitor the integrity of high-quality forest and nature-based carbon crediting initiatives that support global climate goals.

Our workshop will bring together researchers, forest carbon buyers, and other stakeholders to engage in meaningful discussions and promote high-integrity in this evolving field.

Content

Our workshop is a key step in addressing these challenges. The workshop will feature presentations, moderated dialogues, and networking opportunities aimed at clarifying the capacity building needs for corporate carbon buyers and companies committed to impactful climate change mitigation.

Insights from this workshop will help shape a new course to be piloted in 2025, specifically designed for corporate buyers of forest carbon credits.
