Collaboration Opportunities for Projects in Southern Bahia, Brazil

Summary

This workshop is organized by the Environmental Leadership and Training Initiative (ELTI) at Yale School of the Environment (YSE) in partnership with The Forest School (TFS). The goal is to explore and strengthen collaborative opportunities between Yale and Brazilian partners working on sustainable landscapes in southern Bahia, Brazil - a region of high biodiversity and complex land-use dynamics.

The event will bring together Yale faculty, researchers, and students, along with Brazilian collaborators from the ELTI-Brazil Program, based at the Institute for Ecological Research (IPÊ), and faculty members from the Federal University of Southern Bahia (UFSB). These collaborators work in the fields of forestry, agroforestry, and landscape restoration.

This will be an invitation-only event specifically designed for Yale affiliates and selected Brazilian partners.

Content

The workshop will focus on sharing experiences, identifying synergies, and fostering collaborative research and training initiatives between Yale’s ELTI, TFS, and Brazilian institutions. Key topics to be discussed include:

  • The dynamic and diverse landscape of southern Bahia.
  • Ongoing work by ELTI in Brazil.
  • Collaborative experiences between Yale faculty and the Federal University of Southern Bahia (UFSB).
  • Opportunities to expand joint research, field-based training, and applied projects in ecosystem restoration, agroforestry, and sustainable land management in southern Bahia.

The workshop will provide a platform for meaningful dialogue, strengthening academic and practical collaborations for sustainable landscapes in Brazil.
