Community-Based Rainforestation Training
Summary
This short field-based course aims to train private landowners and other individuals from Baybay City, Leyte, who are interested in using the Rainforestation approach to rehabilitate degraded lands.
Rainforestation is a native species-based reforestation/agroforestry strategy that aims to support local communities’ agriculture- and forest-based livelihoods, while also preserving biodiversity and providing a better supply of ecosystem services. Through a series of lectures, field visits and hands-on exercises, the participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to establish Rainforestation sites in their areas. This training will also initiate the establishment of a local learning center for community-based forest restoration and conservation agriculture.
