Defining Forest Restoration and Agroforestry Themes for Field Based Training in the Congo Nile Divide (CND)

Summary

Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) Rwanda-ELTI, together with Rwanda Forestry Authority, facilitated a daylong workshop, “Defining Forest Restoration and Agroforestry Themes for Field Based Training in the Congo Nile Divide (CND),” as part of a three-day collaborative meeting to present the results of an ongoing needs assessment on restoration capacity building conducted by WCS-ELTI;  share experiences, insights, and concerns regarding forest restoration and agroforestry training and opportunities for development; and define priority course themes and high-level content for pilot courses to be launched in July 2025. Sixteen participants from the CND's forest landscape restoration sector, including local NGOs, district offices, and academic and government institutions, reflected on the skills and knowledge needed to promote climate resilience and restore biodiversity in the CND and together prioritized the most pressing training needs.
