Summary

The Province of Bukidnon, through the initiative of the Provincial Governor, Hon. Alex P. Calingasan, recently launched its “Bukidnon Greening Program.” The primary goal of the program, which is being implemented in partnership with civic, government and private Institutions, is to achieve 50% forest cover across the province. The 2-day Mindanao Rainforest Restoration Forum was held to further cultivate initial gains in Bukidnon and to guide other restoration endeavors in Mindanao in using native species. The conference was also used to promote better cooperation in Mindanao protected area management as a way to address national interests and global imperatives on biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
