School-on-the-Air Program for Rainforestation Farming
Summary
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, ELTI is experimenting with radio’s ability to reach a large number of farming households with information about integrating native forest trees into a variety of land management strategies. Known as Rainforestation, this approach has been devised to enhance biodiversity and reduce the risk of disasters like landslides and flooding while boosting production. This training is specifically targeting farmers from the communities of Abuyog, Javier and Mahaplag—all in the province of Leyte—but others who receive the radio signal can also listen in.
