Beyond Restoration Ecology: Social Perspectives in Latin America and the Caribbean

This book consists of a collection of articles about the social dimensions of ecological restoration, which were presented during the Latin American and Caribbean Society of Ecological Restoration’s (known by its Spanish acronym as SIACRE) IV Iberoamerican and Caribbean Congress of Ecological Restoration, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2015. Two of the chapters were authored by ELTI personnel and collaborators, which illustrate ELTI’s efforts in forest restoration capacity building.Chapter 18 by Jacob L. Leaders in Action: Online Learning for FLR

This booklet includes a collection of inspirational stories from alumni of the ELTI-IUCN online courses, "Forest Landscape Restoration in the Tropics" that illustrate the diverse ways in which individuals have made profound and positive impacts that they contribute to their participation in these courses.

Participatory research for restoration and agro-ecological production

This chapter by Calle et al. describes the process and outcomes of a 25-year participatory research project that was carried out in partnership between CIPAV and farmers of a local community in El Dovio, Valle del Cauca, Colombia. The project was guided by integrated land management and the need to combine biodiversity conservation, ecological restoration, and sustainable use of natural resources. This Chapter 11 of the book entitled Beyond Restoration Ecology: Social Perspectives in Latin America and the Caribbean, which includes collection of articles about the social dimensions of ecological restoration, which were presented during the Latin American and Caribbean Society of Ecological Restoration’s (known by its Spanish acronym as SIACRE) IV Iberoamerican and Caribbean Congress of Ecological Restoration, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2015.

Rainforestation Case Study: The Cienda-San Vicente Farmers Association Experience

This case study describes the experiences of the Cienda-San Vicente Farmers Association (CSVFA) as the first people's organization in the Philippines to implement the "Rainforestation" method of forest restoration with the assistance of Visayas State University (VSU). The case study includes the history of Rainforestation, the participatory approach that Rainforestation employs, the implementation process for Rainforestation, and the experiences of CSVFA.
